VERSTAPPEN WINS THE SPANISH GRAND PRIX

Formula One was in Barcelona for the Spanish Grand Prix in what was setup on the Saturday to be a great fight for the win between Norris and Verstappen. Sadly for Norris a poor start off the line really cost him a second career win in F1 today which Red Bull took full advantage of which keeps Verstappen in the lead of the title fight but it does push Lando into second. However this race does show just how good the McLaren's are compared to the Red Bull cars...

Lando Norris (McLaren) doesn't get the best start off of the line but is side by side with Max Verstappen (Red Bull) into turn one but George Russell (Mercedes) drives round the outside and takes the lead of the race into turn one with Verstappen now in second and Norris is down to third with Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) in fourth and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) completes the top five.

It only took three laps for Verstappen to take the lead of the race as the reigning World Champion makes a sweeping move on Russell and Verstappen now leads the Spanish Grand Prix.

25 laps in and all the drivers have pitted - the top five is Verstappen, Russell, Hamilton in third, Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) fourth and Norris in fifth.

Then after 48 laps the two fastest cars of Norris and Verstappen have both made their second stop. Verstappen leads with Norris in second - but who will win? Norris is definitely the quickest car on track and is able to make inroads on the Red Bull...

With ten laps to go Verstappen still leads the race from Norris who is closing at a rate of knots in second. Hamilton sits third fighting his teammate for the seven times World Champions first podium of 2024. Russell is fourth and Leclerc in fifth.

Sadly we didn't get the fight for the win we were hoping for heading into the race in what was ultimately a quiet Spanish Grand Prix.

The next race is the Austrian Grand Prix.
