ANTONELLI WINS IN AUSTIN BUT THE TITLE FIGHT CONTINUES INTO MEXICO

Formula One arrived in Austin, Texas for the United States Grand Prix for Round Eighteen of this years World Championship in a race that was dominated by Championship leader Kimi Antonelli as he dominated the race to take one step closer to his maiden World Championship. Charles Leclerc finished second ahead of third placed Max Verstappen who is now mathematically out of this years title fight.
Pole sitter Kimi Antonelli got away very well and leads into turn one, as Verstappen momentarily loses second place to Charles Leclerc with Lewis Hamilton fighting in fourth, Isack Hadjar had also dropped down from his starting place of third. Into turns fifteen and sixteen Verstappen is back into second.
Although he stayed above ninth place in the end George Russell was given a five second penalty for his opening lap track limits violation in his fight with Oscar Piastri, which would relegate Russell to a frustrating weekend.
The first retirement came on lap twenty six when the Haas of Ollie Bearman is pitted to retire from the race. Then around lap forty or so the Alpine of Franco Colapinto retired. Then on lap fifty one of fifty six the Cadillac of Valtteri Bottas has an engine issue and is going around very slowly. The VSC is deployed for the stranded Cadillac, we then get the green flag a few laps later but nothing was going to stop Antonelli winning this race.
The next race is the Mexican Grand Prix.
