Monza, the Temple of Speed. A track steeped in Formula One history, a race that so often gives us drama and excitement certainly failed on some points this weekend. It was a dominant race from Max Verstappen in the Red Bull who finished twenty seconds clear of second placed Lando Norris who was ahead of Championship leader and teammate Oscar Piastri who picks up good points in his title lead. And with the pace of the the Red Bull and the speed Max was going around Monza makes this the fastest ever Formula One race taking around one hour and thirteen minutes.

It was a DNS for the Sauber of Nico Hulkenberg who was forced to retire before getting to the grid to start the race, the first time Hulkenberg hasn't finished let alone started a race in Monza.

It was initial excitement as at the start Verstappen and Norris went wheel to wheel before Norris runs wide onto the grass heading into turn one, where Verstappen has to cut the first corner with Norris second and Piastri in third with a very fast Leclerc in fourth. Towards the end of the lap Max was given the order to give back the position to Norris and there was no arguing from the four time World Champion this time.

The second retirement came twenty six laps in when a suspension failure forced the Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso to retire from the race.

The final little piece of drama came on lap forty one when the Williams of Carlos Sainz and the Haas of Ollie Bearman collide at turn five as the Williams attempts an overtake on the Haas. The stewards later deemed it a penalty for Bearman who was given a five second penalty.

The next race is the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
