VERSTAPPEN WINS IN SAUDI ARABIA AS BEARMAN SCORES POINTS ON DEBUT

Another race in the Middle East and another perfect race for Red Bull as Verstappen once again dominates as he wins the opening two races of the season for the first time in his career. Perez came second even with his five seconds added on with Leclerc in third to get the second Ferrari podium this season, that's one a piece for Leclerc and Sainz in the opening two races.

Once again its Max Verstappen who leads ahead of Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez. And a good start for Ollie Bearman (Ferarri) who looks to show no nerves in his F1 debut.

Pierre Gasly had problems before he got to the grid and had to retire by the end of the first lap. Becoming the first retirement of 2024.

It only took until lap seven until we had the second retirement of the year when Lance Stroll ends up in the barriers. The full Safety Car is deployed.

Stroll clipped the wall turning into the corner and had nothing he could do as he want sailing into the wall.

On lap eight it was chaos in the pits as almost everyone comes in for a ‘free’ pit stop which puts Lando Norris in the lead of this race ahead of Verstappen who pitted. Lewis Hamilton is third having not pitted along with Norris. The top five under the SC is Norris who leads from Verstappen in second, Hamilton in third with Perez fourth and Leclerc fifth.

The race gets going again three laps later after the incident on lap 10 with the green flag shown we are back racing at full speed. Lando leads into turn one but it will be difficult to hold off Verstappen.

And that was true as three laps later Max Verstappen was back into the lead of the race. And in classic Verstappen fashion that was the last anyone saw of the Dutchman until he lapped the back markers just before the end of the race.

With ten laps left in the race and Verstappen leads by over eight seconds to his teammate in second with Leclerc in third. Debutant Bearman is holding his own in his first race in F1 and is on course to score points in what would be a a great display from the teenager.

Its more disappointment for the Kick Sauber team as it’s a second race and second long lasting pit stop for the team but this time for Guanyu Zhou. He drops to last with the soft tyres in an attempt to get fastest lap.

But the story of the day is Ollie Bearman who 36 hours prior to this race was ready to sit on pole in F2 and was thrown into the Ferrari to replace Carlos Sainz who had surgery for appendicitis. After starting in eleventh he showed maturity and pure speed to fight his way to seventh and he gives a real headache to Ferrari who surely will want him in an F1 car sooner rather than later. Is a Haas seat a possibility?
