VERSTAPPEN WINS DRAMATIC BRITISH GRAND PRIX AHEAD OF NORRIS AND HAMILTON

Formula One was at its birthplace for this years British Grand Prix - Silverstone and despite some quiet moments in the race there certainly was some drama which ended with a sixth straight win for Championship leader Max Verstappen ahead of two of the three home favourites - Lando Norris finishes second for the third time in his F1 career with Hamilton finishing third for his 14th podium at the British Grand Prix.

For the first time in a long time it wasn't Verstappen who got away well in fact he got bogged down at the start which gave Lando Norris THE LEAD OF THE BRITISH GRAND PRIX - as they fly into turn one with Oscar Piastri (McLaren) staying third with Max Verstappen (Red Bull) in second. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and George Russell (Mercedes) complete the top five.

Sadly for home favourite Norris it was the very quick Max Verstappen who braked later into turn five and takes the lead of the race - the Red Bull with DRS is just so quick compared to every other car.

The first retirement came on lap 10 when Esteban Ocon (Alpine) is retired from the race.

The next drama and retirement came 23 laps later on lap 33 when Kevin Magnussen pulled over with a smoking car. The VSC gets deployed initially with the full Safety Car being sent out the very next lap.

On lap 38 the Safety Car came in and its Verstappen who bolted away and keeps the lead with Norris able to keep second ahead of Hamilton - Norris only just holds off Hamilton and with warmed up hard tyres he will get some pace back on the Mercedes who was on the quicker soft tyres.

The third and final retirement in this race saw the second Alpine of Pierre Gasly who was going slowly and is out of the race. The damage is caused after contact with Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) and his rear suspension now facing the wrong way. A horrible day for the Alpine team.

The next race is the Hungarian Grand Prix.
