PIASTRI WILL RACE FOR MCLAREN IN 2023

Former F2 and F3 Champion Oscar Piastri has been confirmed for the second McLaren seat replacing fellow countryman Daniel Ricciardo alongside Lando Norris for 2023, after the CRB process was completed it was determined that Piastri did in fact hold no obligation to sign a contract with Alpine. The French team will now look to sign either Gasly or Schumacher.

Piastri's junior career record shows why the Australian driver deserves a chance at the very top of motorsport. In 2020 Piastri joined Prema Racing in Formula 3 after winning the Renault Eurocup the year previous.

In his first season in Formula 3 Piastri achieved;

2 Wins

4 Fastest Laps &

6 Podiums

Which gave him a grand total of 164 points enough for the title in his rookie season. After this type of form in his first season in F3 Piastri was awarded with an F2 seat for 2021 staying on with Prema - Oscar dominated the 2021 F2 season achieving;

6 Wins

6 Fastest Laps

5 Pole Positions &

11 Podiums

Despite the dominance and double WC on the bounce Piastri was unable to find himself a race seat with the two Alpine seats covered for the next few years.

Piastri becomes the 18th Australian driver to race in F1. Piastri is managed by Mark Webber.
