Formula One was in the Principality of Monaco for round eight a race which is under increasing scrutiny with fans asking wether Formula One has out grown the famous race. For this weekend the FIA introduced a compulsory two stop strategy which many teams interpreted differently. But it was pole sitter Lando Norris who came out on top for his second win this season after he took victory in the season opener in Melbourne. Home hero Charles Leclerc can be happy with second around the streets where he grew up in a Ferrari which he had very low confidence in coming into the race and current title leader Oscar Piastri takes third.

It was the driver in P1 of Lando Norris got off the line best with Leclerc holding second as Norris has a big lock up into turn one but he gets away with it as he's on the racing line up the hill. Oscar Piastri is third and Max Verstappen in fourth with the Racing Bull of Isack Hadjar in fifth.

The first peice of drama came just before the tunnel on lap one as the Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli went for an overtake on the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto who clearly wasn't expecting the move and goes into the barriers... but he finds reverse and is back in this race.

This incident put out the VSC (Virtual Safety Car) which was deployed to ensure the barrier Bortoleto went into is still up to safety standards. We go back to green flag conditions on lap four.

The first retirment came just nine laps in when the Alpine of Pierre Gasly is driving slowly with a wheel hanging off. He managed to get back to the pits with three wheels on his wagon.

The damage comes after he made contact with the rear of Tsunoda's Red Bull coming out of the tunnel and ripped his wheel off and amazingly Tsunoda is still in this race.

We get the green flag on lap eleven.

The final ounce of drama and intrigue in what should have been a bit more of an exciting Monaco Grand Prix came on lap thirty eight when the Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso is forced to retire with smoke coming out of the back of his Aston Martin, it was going so well for the double World Champion who is yet to score a point this season. A streak which continues into its eighth race. Alonso will be hoping to pick up his first points in the next race at his home race no less - the Spanish Grand Prix.

The next race is the Spanish Grand Prix
