TSUNODA WILL RACE FOR ALPHA TAURI IN 2021
The young Japanese F2 driver Yuki Tsunoda will race for the Alpha Tauri team in 2021 as he replaces Daniil Kvyat - who recently came out and said he would be happy to take up an reserve driver role in 2021 if that meant he could make yet another F1 return in 2022.
Tsunoda finished the 2020 F2 season in third with 200 points just one point off of second placed Callum Ilott. He raced for Carlin alongside first time F2 race winner Daruvala.
Tsunoda becomes the first Japanese driver to race in F1 since Kamui Kobayashi who left the sport in 2014 after a disappointing season at Caterham. Kobayashi famously got his one and only podium at the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix.
Tsunoda will become the tenth Japanese driver to race in Formula One. He will partner first time F1 race winner Gasly.
