EXPOSING THE RACISM ON F1 SOCIAL MEDIA
2020 was an eye opening year with the tragic death of George Floyd sparking mass protests surrounding Black Lives Matter - and recently with various pieces of work I have done for uni - I have seen and learnt about so much - from food-banks to the racism in Formula One a sport I love and have watched for will be 10 years later this year. It was somewhat recently announced that Lewis Hamilton had been knighted along with winning BBC's Sports Personality of the Year Award and I decided to delve into the comments and see what I could find - I have covered the names and images of those who made the comments purely out of an inner stress that I'm going to be sued by someone - all of these comments are about Hamilton and were found on the Sky Sports F1 Facebook page.
Im not quite sure this person understands...
There's no need for language like this - but at least when writing this disgusting comment they had the decency to censor themselves...
Not sure how this person came to this conclusion when Hamilton was the person at the forefront of bringing awareness to racism...
This person didn't get the memo on what BLM stands for but at least they tried...
The greatest ever Formula One driver, 7 WDC, 95 wins, 151 podiums and 98 pole positions - yet is somehow a disgrace, doesn't make sense to me...
This one is just uncalled for and it's "being" not "been"...
I may be wrong but I think this person is trying to blame Hamilton for starting a BLM protest which they have called a "riot" and of course I don't want to see anyone hurt and hope the police men and women they are referring to are well but seems a bit unnecessary to go at the whole Hamilton family...
Ahhh... a WLM comment - again like most people in this post - they don't seem to have gotten the memo about BLM... oh and by the way for those not too invested in F1 - George refers to Williams driver George Russell - who replaced Hamilton when he missed the Sakhir Grand Prix due to COVID-19...

These are all comments about Lewis Hamilton - companies / organisations need to take action and have people remove these types of comments. If any companies out there are looking for that person please get in touch.
