BOTTAS WINS THE TURKISH GRAND PRIX


Valtteri Bottas wins his first race in over a year since the 2020 Russian Grand Prix to take his tenth career win in Formula One, Max Verstappen come home in second to take the lead in the championship by six points with his Red Bull teammate Perez coming home in third for his first podium since the French Grand Prix.


It was a good start from Bottas as he leads from Verstappen as Alonso spins after making contact with the Alpha Tauri of Pierre Gasly - Hamilton makes up one place to and is up into tenth - Leclerc (Ferrari) is third with Perez in fourth.


After a lengthy stint behind Tsunoda (Alpha Tauri) Hamilton finally gets past but credit to Tsunoda who did very well to defend from the 7 Time World Champion - Hamilton now is eighth and continues his charge up the field.

After starting 19th Carlos Sainz passes Vettel (Aston Martin) to get into P10 an amazing drive by Sainz in the early stage of this race - the two cars do make contact but no further investigation is necessary from the Stewards.

By lap 15 Hamilton was up to fifth with an easy pass on the second Alpha Tauri of Pierre Gasly.


On lap 22 Ricciardo was the first to pit from 16th for a fresh set of intermediates - his next few laps were watched closely by everyone to see if its worth copying what McLaren have done - Ricciardo comes out 18th ahead of the two Haas cars of Mazepin and Schumacher.


Just six laps later on lap 28 Mazepin almost causes an accident between himself and Hamilton as he moves back to the racing line as the Mercedes is attempting to lap the Russian driver.

On lap 35 an incredible battle between Perez and Hamilton as they go wheel to wheel for the final five corners.

Verstappen pits from second on lap 37 and comes out third behind Leclerc.

And the next lap Bottas pits from the lead for new intermediates - Leclerc now leads however he hasn’t stopped. Perez pits the same lap and rejoins in sixth place.

With 15 laps to go (Lap 44) Leclerc leads Bottas by around 3 seconds with Verstappen in third and Hamilton fourth.

Lap 47: Bottas re-takes the lead of the race - Leclerc doesn’t fight it.


Ten laps to go and Leclerc pits from second for a new set of inters and rejoins in fourth place ahead of Perez. Bottas leads from Verstappen and Hamilton in third.

With just a handful of laps left Hamilton comes in for a new set of intermediate tyres coming out in fifth ahead of Gasly but has lost the positions to Leclerc and Perez.


The next race is the American Grand Prix.
